Beauty Banter: Quarantine Beauty Tips
HaVe a bit of extra time on your hands lately?
Same.
We all want to come out of this better than we went in. Here are a handful of habits and products our staff has been relying on to stay healthy, happy, and feeling beautiful.
Chemical Exfoliation
There was never a better time to consider getting into the hard stuff than this quarantine. Chemical peels such as the Cane + Austin Miracle Pad, can dramatically improve the texture of your skin, giving you baby face results, but not without risk. They can make you especially sensitive to sun exposure, as well as cause initial dryness and flakiness. Both of these potential side effects are almost a non-issue when trapped indoors, with an excellent excuse to avoid the sun, makeup, and other humans entirely. If you are unsure about how any existing conditions will react to chemical exfoliation, don’t take our word for any of this except the part about you having an excuse to stay inside - consult a dermatologist.
Take it easy on caffeine and alcohol
We are likely the latest in a long line of folks telling you too much caffeine and alcohol will wreak havoc on your skin. Reel it in a little, your face will thank you.
Drink some dang water
Stay hydrated. Duh.
K Beauty
Pre-Pandemic over at Fazer, we were all guilty of skipping skin care steps and falling asleep with makeup on. We have since (mostly) changed our ways, and have been using this extra time to try out a full Korean skincare routine. Give it a shot, you’ll get glowy and hydrated, and rituals (even slightly crazy, self indulgent ones) feel important right now. The Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop is one of our favorites, it didn’t irritate any of us with sensitive skin, and was a complete game changer.
Masks
Quarantine is a great time to hang out in a sheet mask, sans judgement. We saw a photo today of a guy on the subway wearing half of a takeout container on his face - there are no rules anymore. We love looking all crazy in My Beauty Diary Sheet Masks and in The Ordinary’s Peeling Solution.
Don't Overdo It
Do not forget to patch test new products, and give your skin a break from actives every few days. Pandemics are difficult enough without giving yourself a crazy rash.
Melatonin
Getting enough sleep feels amazing, and makes quarantine go by faster. Your skin loves it, too. Do yourself, and your skin, a favor - go to bed early and sleep in late. Our favorite, Carlyle Fast Dissolve Melatonin can help take you there.
Do Something Nice for Someone
If you follow through with one of our beauty tips, we hope it is this one. Seriously. It does not have to be something big, doing literally anything nice for someone else is going to feel really good. It is likely to make them feel alright, too. And that is beautiful.
