I Love You, Leon

Natalie Portman plays Mathilda Lando, a 12 year old girl who lives with her dysfunctional family in the same apartment building as Leon Montano (Jean Reno), a professional hitman. They quickly grow a bond after she takes shelter during a raid in her family's apartment which the corrupted DEA agents murder her entire family. After she discovers Leon is a hitman, Mathilda begs him to teach her his ways so she can take revenge on the people who killed her 4 year old brother, the only one in her family she cared about. He eventually gives in and she soon becomes his apprentice, learning the different weapons and how to use them.

If you've seen this film, you probably have been inspired by some of the outfits that this 12 year old actress wears. Who knew that I would be getting style inspiration from a 12 year old in my 20s? I want to be as cool as Mathilda.

Clearly the stylist, Magali Guidasci was on point and made Natalie Portman a very stylish tween. Cropped tops, cut off shorts, ankle boots, high waisted skirts, round sunglasses, knit cardigans and her iconic choker... Mathilda's staples are what have inspired the outfits of what most people you see wearing at Coachella nowadays. Many stores like LF and Forever 21 have started selling 90s inspired outfits but I would suggest that your local vintage store probably has a better and more authentic selection.

Also, Can we talk about her hair??? This chic blunt bob suits her so well. There are so many different modern variations I have seen lately and this style has certainly not gotten old.

Beyond style, this movie is a great film. If you haven't seen it, I definitely recommend watching it.
